Pretty Lady: Sara Bareilles

Hiya – it’s a new Pretty Lady! (To see more pretty ladies, click here.)

Who: Sara Bareilles

Why she’s beautiful inside and out: With her powerful voice and killer song-writing, Sara Bareilles can touch both the heart and the funny bone, sometimes all in one song. (Check out this performance of “King of Anything,” in which she positively gleefully rejects those who try to control her life.) She is a skillful pianist as well as singer, and her live performances are even more powerful than the album recordings. In addition to her musical talent, Sara is also articulate and intelligent. And unlike so many others, she isn’t afraid to use the “F” word. No, not that one! I mean “Feminist.”

More pictures and a video after the jump!

Here, watch this video that begins with an interview in which she discusses her frustrations with trying to make it in the music business as a young woman; then watch the moving performance of her ballad, “Gravity.”

What do you think of today’s pretty lady?
