Poem for a Monday Morning: One Art

In the spirit of graduation and saying goodbye to many people I love, here is “One Art” by Elizabeth Bishop. This has long been one of my favorite poems; I memorized it in high school and used to write it over and over in my notebooks when I was bored in class. Though Bishop says that “the art of losing isn’t hard to master”, it is clear from her repetition and difficulty in finishing the last line (“Write it!”) that the person she is most trying to convince of that fact is herself. Enjoy:

Congratulations on your Graduation. Me & Jess had ours on the 16th. With many of our friends moving out of state (many to the west coast) it will be sad.
Best of luck on your future plans……Kara XOXO
